Did You Know

Research suggests that skills generally have a “half-life” of about five years, with more technical skills at just two and a half years.

This means that after this period, half of what is learned becomes outdated, exposing a widening gap between education and employment. To keep pace with the rapid advances in technology and support a culture of life-long learning, experienced professionals need focused, preparatory, applied learning solutions that are customized for their unique goals via career progression, laddering and upskilling opportunities.

Our Story

During the height of COVID-19, our region’s healthcare network experienced immense pressures due to critical staffing shortages and surging demands for care; a long-standing issue that predates the pandemic. These challenges were further magnified by the country’s rapid population growth and simultaneous decline in health human resources, exposing a major gap in education and training options for current healthcare workers. In response, Mohawk College’s Centre for Professional Advancement & Continuing Studies (CPACS) implemented a transformative new model of on-the-job training that prioritizes innovative, responsive, rapid, and specialized instruction- qualities that were urgently needed to navigate the dynamic healthcare landscape during crisis.

Recognizing the broader spectrum of workforce challenges, the Marinucci Family CPACS has continued to diversify its offerings, spanning sectors like Community Services, Skilled Trades, and Early Childhood Education to tackle current and emerging needs. Today, the Marinucci Family CPACS operates 15 custom programs & courses across 3 provinces, with the most significant impact in the field of Diagnostic Imaging (DI). By the end of 2024, the Marinucci Family CPACS will have graduated 58 technicians who are ready and on the job, nearly equaling the combined annual output of MRI Technicians across all post-secondary institutions in Ontario.

In Spring of 2024, the Marinucci Family CPACS received a generous donation from the Marinucci Family Foundation, a registered charity focused on funding education, live arts and proactive healthcare initiatives. The contribution marks a significant stride towards achieving its objectives as the number one leader in workforce transformation.

Our Commitment

The Marinucci Family CPACS is committed to building a resilient, agile, and future-ready workforce. By 2030, the Marinucci Family CPACS aims to achieve its ambitious 5-year targets, driving meaningful change and transformation in the years to come.
